Introduction
At the Martial Arts Training Center of Cheshire it is our goal to provide you and your children with the highest quality of martial arts instruction. A strong body is only one half of our martial arts program; the other half works on a strong mind by incorporating the behaviors of respect, self control, and self discipline.
Style
At the Martial Arts Training Center of Cheshire we teach a variety of martial arts systems, with Kempo being our core style. Kempo is a blend of Japanese karate and Chinese kung fu. Traditional karate emphasizes a linear, direct approach while most kung fu styles utilize more circular movements. As a self-defense system, Kempo will use whichever approach is the most practical for any given situation.
We are also proud to offer training in Shaolin Kung Fu under Grandmaster Tak Wah Eng. Shaolin Kung Fu is a martial art with thousands of years of history, and provides a great full body workout. The aim of Shaolin Kung Fu is to coordinate the mind with the body in all movements. Both empty hand and weapon forms are taught.
We believe that all martial arts systems, as well as western boxing and wrestling, have something to offer. We periodically will have guest instructors from these styles share their knowledge with our students in an effort to help them grow as martial artists.
All classes are conducted in a fun and safe environment. Our children's program focuses on coordination, balance, and listening skills. We explain when it is appropriate to use their martial skills. The adult program will increase endurance and flexibility, as well as improve self-defense abilities.

Self-Defense Philosophy
We utilize a progressive approach to self defense. Techniques are taught in a controlled environment, and we gradually increase the realism of the attack. Age relevant attack scenarios are practiced to put the student in the proper frame of mind. This method will instill the confidence needed to access your self defense skills if a situation ever should arise.
